Electronic signatures given using Smart-ID have legal ramifications, so we need to be sure that your Smart-ID is linked to the correct person and with the correct personal data. As you use Smart-ID to confirm identity (making bank transfers, changing personal details, adjusting services, signing agreements etc), we need to be sure that whoever is using the device and has access to your PIN-codes has the right to do so.
…and what if I do not do it?
If you let your account expire, it will stop working so you won’t be able to use it to log in or confirm your activities. To keep using Smart-ID if your current account has expired without renewing it, you will need to register a new account.
